• Even though none of the action is really original or inventive, the majority of it is interesting (and bloody). 

Blood & Gold's violent set pieces, which towards the end start to make parts of the action feel a little uninspired, are actually less compelling than the gold's mystery. 

• The film's structure suddenly becomes clear: each action scene results in more story, which may feel a bit predictable to some, especially considering the film's generally amusing tone. 

The action and violence contain some humor, yet there are points when it seems as though the film is torn between being blatantly humorous and gravely serious. 

• Of obviously, the situation, background, and issue at hand are serious. Even the lead antagonist's obscenely hideous appearance makes him seem slightly humorous.

Blood & Gold, a spaghetti-western-style film from Netflix set at the end of World War II that pays homage to films like The Magnificent Seven and The Good,

• The Bad, and the Ugly as well as Quentin Tarantino's critically acclaimed inglourious basterds, is full of blood, gold, and inventive deaths.

If you like Tarantino's film, you'll enjoy this well-paced film that starts with a gang of SS officials pursuing a German soldier named Heinrich (Barbarians' Robert Maaser) as he runs away through the countryside. 

• They take him into custody and hang him, but they leave without first making sure he is dead.

They're going to the nearby village of Sonnenberg to look for a cache of gold bars they think a Jewish family stashed there before they escaped, so they have other things on their minds.

• Heinrich is fortunate that they are diverted since Elsa (Marie Hacke, who Outlander fans may recognize as Petronella Mueller) cuts him down while he is still alive (but suffering from severe neck pain).
